This training meets the requirement as put forth by the New York State SAVE legislation. It is intended for anyone pursuing NYS certification in teaching, administration and school services, as well as those already holding permanent certification.
Training includes:
- Understanding the extent and nature of child maltreatment in the United States and New York State
- Explain the legal framework for the New York State Child Protective System
- Define child abuse and maltreatment/neglect in New York State
- Highlight the physical and behavioral indicators commonly associated with child abuse and maltreatment/neglect
- Effective reporting of child abuse or maltreatment/neglect to the New York State Central Register (SCR)
- Evaluate situations to determine whether there is reasonable cause to suspect child abuse or maltreatment/neglect.
